Method Feeders for Beginners – CatsandCarp.com

Method Feeders for beginners is pretty simple. Method feeders are specially designed weights that are built to hold a balls of molded chum. The fisherman uses a ground bait or method bait that can be turned into a sticky pasty chum. Balls of chum are molded around the method feeder and casted out.

In the water, the chum slowly dissolves and falls off the method feeder. The method feeder becomes a way of chumming within inches of hook.

To prevent the hook link from getting tangled, you squish the hook and bait into the top of the ball of chum so that your bait will be on top of the pile and first to come free.

Oatmeal is a great, cheap base for method feeder chum. The longer you let oatmeal sit after adding water the stickier the mix becomes. There are some great commercial ground baits that can be added to your oatmeal or used as the base for your method mix.
