Panels
Panel: Web Page Design- Aesthetics Meets Web Engineering
SLAC Auditorium
The execution of a Web page design is a critical element in Web Engineering
and often represents the most obvious visible result of the process to
users. Outstanding graphical presentation can make a poorly engineered
application look good but still be unusable. Poor graphical presentation can
distract from the functionalities of a well-engineered Web application. This
panel will bring together Web and graphics designers and Web engineers to
discuss the roles of their respective contributions and how to reach the
best balance in implementation.
Panel:
Terence Parr, Chair
Joseph Lewis, Sandia
Ryan King, Technorati
Annette Greiner, Berkeley Lab
Panel: 'Web 2.0' Engineering
Orange Room
There has been a great deal of commentary (and hype) recently about "Web
2.0." Followers of these discussions quickly realize that a clear definition
of the technology does not exist. Yet, dozens of startups have professed to
utilize Web 2.0 characteristics such as AJAX, rich interfaces, mash-ups, and
folksonomies. This panel will investigate the Web 2.0 phenomenon with some
its practitioners and investigate the opportunities and challenges it might
bring to the Web Engineering community.
